Description of herb

Black poplar (Populus nigra) is a dioecious tree with a flowering period in April. We use buds, bark and leaves. The buds are plucked before sprouting in February and March and processed immediately.

Dioskurides suggest a poultice of poplar buds and vinegar in the gout. Fruits with vinegar against epilepsy. Poplar ointment has been used since the Middle Ages as a cooling agent to relieve pain.

Healing effects

Black poplar is used in natural medicine for rheumatoid arthritis. The herb is diuretic and promotes the excretion of uric acid. It is also traditionally used for prostatitis. In combination with magnesium, poplar is suitable for muscle cramps. It supports the proper function of platelets. It is recommended for post-treatment after Lyme disease.
