Description of herb

Toadflax (Linaria vulgaris) - a perennial medicinal herb up to 60 cm high, very abundant from the lowlands to the mountains, on drier sandy soils, where it reproduces rapidly with the help of rhizomes and seeds.

It is widespread almost throughout Europe and Western Siberia, with the exception of the northernmost regions.

From June to October, flowering stems are collected for medicinal purposes. It is an underrated herb, although its effects are quite extraordinary in many areas.

Healing effects

Internal use

Toadflax is used internally mainly for the treatment of chronic constipation, liver and gallbladder disorders associated with constipation.

The anti-inflammatory effects of the substances contained in the flowering stem can be used in the treatment of hemorrhoids, conjunctivitis or corneal inflammation, jaundice, urinary tract inflammation and the treatment of peptic ulcer.

In Crohn's disease, it helps to reduce cramping pain in diarrhea, even with other colic of various origins. But it also has a diuretic effect, supports kidney and liver function.

When applied externally

it has a very positive effect on the vascular system, so it helps to treat varicose veins, shin ulcers, infected skin defects, but also rupture of blood vessels - reduces the fragility of blood vessels.

It can also be used for eye washes for inflammation of the conjunctiva, eyelids or cornea.

Toadflax acts:

  • anti-inflammatory
  • laxative
  • diureticly
  • reduces the fragility of blood vessels
  • relieves pain in diarrhea and colic of various origins (eg gallstones or kidney stones)

Preparation and dosing

TEA

Preparation: Boil 1 teaspoon with a cup of boiling water, let it infuse for 20 minutes.

Dosing: Drink 2 times a day.

 

TINCTURE

Preparation: Pour a handful of 65% alcohol over the hand, let it infuse in the heat for 14 days with occasional shaking, filter.

Dosing: 20-24 drops 4 times a day.
