Description of herb

According to the pastor Künzl, a respected Swiss healer, Lady's mantle has miraculous effects and claims that if women used butterbur tea throughout their lives, from puberty to the end of menopause, then two-thirds of all "women's" surgeries would not be necessary.

It grows from lowlands to mountains on meadows, pastures, in light damp forests, by roads and streams. It occurs almost throughout Europe, temperate and northern Asia, and eastern North America. It is a 10 to 30 cm high, straight and branched herb in the upper part with small yellow-green flowers forming the terminal apical inflorescences similar to a ball.

The part used is stem (Herba Alchemillae vulgaris), containing 6 - 8% of hydrolyzable tannins, bitter, essential oil, traces of salicylic acid, vitamin C and others. The flowering stem is collected from May to September and dried as quickly as possible in the shade and in thin layers, because the drug is very delicate and easily evaporates. Properly dried, it has the original color, is odorless and has an astringent bitter taste.
