Echinacea-Purple coneflower helps in: Flu and cold, Immune support, natural antibiotic, similar to penicillin. It suppresses a wide range of viruses, bacteria and fungi...
Echinacea purpurea is the most famous medicinal plant today. It has a light purple cone-shaped flower at the end of a long stem. The name originates from the Greek word "echinos", or hedgehog, for its flower shape with thorns. The first mention comes from the American continent, where it was used for medical purposes 200 years ago.
The most valuable is fresh juice, but in contact with oxygen, unwanted enzymatic changes occur quickly, so it is best to infuse parts of the plant. The drug obtained is non-toxic, no contraindications or side effects are known, however, use is not recommended in more advanced stages of pregnancy.
Echinacea-Purple coneflower has a relatively long history. It was used as a medicinal herb by American Indians for various inflammations, infections, and wound healing. In the 18th century, Echinacea was a widely prescribed anti-inflammatory drug in the United States. It was first brought to Europe 300 years ago. Interest in this plant declined in the 1950s, when antibiotics were discovered and nasally used. Although the popularity of Echinacea has declined, it has continued to be used mainly in Germany, where it is treated for viral infections and inflammatory conditions. It has recently begun to experience and is experiencing its "rebirth", as more and more people prefer phytotherapeutic treatment, which is more gentle and considerate to the body with the same effect.
Echinacea-Purple coneflower is often called a natural antibiotic because it has a similar effect to penicillin, even in scope. It can suppress a wide range of viruses, bacteria and fungi. As with penicillin, it depends on how the body treats the active substances, however, with similar effects, treatment with an herbal preparation is selective and gentle on the body.
Echinacea-Purple coneflower contains the substance echinacin, which reacts with the enzyme hyalurinadase, which is secreted by microbes to make it easier for tissues to pass and cause infection. Studies of this substance suggest that it is very effective in reducing the frequency and severity of colds and flu. It is interesting how the substances contained in Echinacea-Purple coneflower work: some have antibacterial and antifungal effects - they selectively slow down the spread of bacteria, unlike their immediate killing of (all) antibiotics, other components increase the amount of fibroblasts (cells responsible for developing connective tissue) and help stimulate development new tissues.
Unlike one chemical compound, one mechanism of action, Echinacea-Purple coneflower works in many ways, helping the body to help itself - the most effective and safest method of healing.
It activates the immune system - by stimulating the production of T-cells (phagocytosis), the lymphatic system (lymphocytic activity) and cellular respiration directed against tumor cells. It suppresses the secretion of the enzyme hyalurinadase (eg - it increases the permeability of the tissue, so it is used in some drugs to absorb the active substance faster and it is also used by some viruses to move faster in the tissues).
The root contains many valuable substances, especially 1% echinacoside, 1.5% essential oil, inulin, pentosans, polyins, polyenes, higher fatty acids, caffeic acid derivatives, pyrrolizidine alkaloids, isobutylamides, polysaccharides, tannins, sterols and flavonoids.
Essential oils, ß-sitosterol, palmitic and linoleic fatty acids, phenolic substances (caffeic acid, echinacoside), polysaccharides. The polysaccharide fraction of the extract increases non-specific immunity and has significant antiviral and bacteriostatic effects.
The recent acquisition of the antitumor substance pentadecadiene has significantly increased interest in this plant, not only in healing circles.
